Experimenting cont

The original image posted previously seems really washed out and you cant really see much detail within the image. When edited, ensuring that the image is darker it looks like dead spider legs etc within the web. Which is not that appealing but interesting.

Experimenting with contrasts and colour

Editing , croping, experimenting

This is the orginal image

Edit: looking slightly 3D

Editing: With the above image I wanted it to look fake and the web to look like another surface.

Another image to attempt editing

Odds and Ends

The above are all from class Activities. Representing different art elements and principles, Line, Colour, Texture as well as themes we needed to focus on such as : clarity, something yuck, blurry etc etc.

I thought that I had lost these photographs. They were from the beginning classes. When re-looking at them I may be able to use some for finals with some touch ups. I am evolving my ideas and themes as I go. I think that I may look at natural objects, scenes or try and bring that into some sort of final idea. Including nature and my surroundings. Even though it sounds quite boring and un-original I may be able to bring something to it to make it more interesting.

Trentham

Here is where i will be hopefully taking most of my photos for the assignment. My block of land in trentham, i am confident that it will definitely provide opportunities to photograph all my intended themes.

Update

At the moment folio dates are starting to come around and I am struggling to complete all the required about of photos just initially looking at insects and spider webs. I am thinking that I might try and incorporate portraiture into my photographs with spider webs etc. I have been thinking about possible things to stage and then take the photograph but time wise I dont think that it will be effective.

On another note Presentations are finished. Some artists I found interesting from the presentations were:
- Cindy Sherman ( Historic Portraits)
- Diane Arbous
- Martha Cooper
- Bob Clarke

Editing

I was looking at a website : www.beautifulbugs.com

An insect artist Frank Phillips discusses " Photomacrography"
Here is my first attempt. I don't think that it worked overall. I didn't use Macro on this image when it was taken so maybe that's why the magnification etc didn't really work at all. The image is unclear.

Robert Capa

I have finally made some decisions on what I'm going to do.

Research Assessment: Robert Capa
Folio: Insects/ Spiderwebs

- Robert Capa was a Hungarian combat photographer/photojournalist.
- Photographed wars: Spanish civil war, Second Sino-Japanese war,World War II ( from London, north Africa and Italy.) The 1948 Arab- Israeli war and the first Indochina war and the battle of Normany on Omaha Beach.
- Portrays the violence of war with unique impact.
-Used a Contax II camera mounted with a 50mm lenses with lots of rolls of film.

Some interesting photos that I like are:
http://designblog.uniandes.edu.co/blogs/dise2616/files/2008/11/robert-capa.jpg
" Loyalist Militaman at the moment of death,Cerro Murrano September 5 1936"
- I really like this photograph in some ways it is like an action photograph incorporating movement in the image as it meant to be of a " Falling solider ". I found that his photographs are really grainy and mostly in black and white.
- Interestingly for 30 years many professors have been trying to say that this photograph has been staged and is not a true document of war.
